Note from the artist about this piece:
No bison freely roam the plains of Kansas anymore, but there are a few bison farms where the stoic-looking beasts are raised for sale to the bison meat market. When photographing them it is always a good idea to stay upwind. While they have poor eyesight, they have an excellent sense of smell. A mature male bison can weight 3,000 pounds.
