Note from the artist about this piece:
Banana Leaf - inspired by memories of watching banana leaves unfurl in Panama. When the leaf opens it is a smooth solid strap of green, but the wind bends and pulls at it until it starts splitting into ribbons held together by the center rib. That doesn't harm the leaf. It is meant to separate into streamers. The patterns of wide and narrow strips seems like some kind of secret message I can't decipher.
