Tsun Ming Chmielinski

About Tsun Ming Chmielinski:

Born in China and raised in Hong Kong, Tsun Ming Chmielinski began her Chinese Brush painting (otherwise known as Sumi-e) at the age of fourteen. Tsun Ming was a private student of the late Zen Master, Shaw Lup Sing, a distinguished art professor at Hong Kong Chinese University.

Tsun Ming immigrated to the United States in 1976 to pursue a higher education in accounting and finance. She worked in this field until the early 90's, though while working as an accountant she never stopped her Sumi-e painting.

After this Tsun Ming began to expand her artistic media by studying pastels, botanical watercolors and oil painting at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Wellesley College, and through private lessons. She continues to take workshops in a variety of different media and makes a point of traveling extensively for inspiration.

Tsun Ming currently teaches Sumi-e painting classes and gives demonstrations and workshops at various art centers and museums. In addition, she also holds private lessons at her studio in Boston.
