About Steven Dragan:
Steven Dragan is a Kansas City-based artist whose approach to painting grew out of a career in architecture. He received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Kansas in 2009. As the leader of an international design studio, he honed the skills of perspective, composition, and visual storytelling. Skills which he applied to his true passion: painting.
His early work focused on capturing places in paint. His takes on local scenery gained a following in several cities which allowed him to transition to painting full time. While his early work remains a part of his creative output, his current work uses the human form to create patterns, an approach inspired by the quick gestural people-sketches in architectural rendering.
Dragan currently operates a public-facing studio and gallery in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District. Outside the studio, he exhibits at nationally-juried art shows around the country. His work is in numerous collections, including the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, American Century Investments, and over 100 other private collections.
