About Shona Dockter:
For most of her life, Shona Dockter has dabbled in art – mostly with pencil in hand. She left a career in advocacy and human resource training to start a decorative paint business. Her 30 year career in decorative arts has taken Shona to walls around the country doing specialty painting in retail outlets and residential homes, and the honor of gold leaf restoration on the Quadriga atop the Minnesota State Capitol.
In 2019, Shona began her journey into fine art, this time with a paint brush, instead of a pencil, and has never looked back.
Shona is wildly excited about acrylics, gold leaf, mixed media, book arts and feminist art. Themes of small town prairie life are rooted in her childhood spent on the Plains of North Dakota, where she was surrounded by quiet landscapes and strong German-Russian women. Amplifying the beauty in the overlooked, the ordinary, and the memories she holds dear, drives her desire to bring others along on a journey to sacred spaces.
