Shelley Breton

About Shelley Breton:

Shelley is an award-winning Maine artist who has been painting and studying in oils for over 16 years. Her connections with her home state stretch back to 1716 when her Scottish ancestors established a shipyard in the Brunswick area.

Taking her inspiration from the effects of light on the local landscape and seascape, Shelley strives to evoke a sense of mood, light and place; and to encourage the viewer to see the Creator behind the vast beauty in our world. She is also greatly inspired by the Spanish artist Joaquin Sorolla’s depictions of sunlight and shadow, and by John Singer Sargent’s mastery of the figure and his confident brushwork.

Shelley was named as one of "Maine's Most Collectible Artists" in ArtMaine Magazine, 2019. She is honored to be a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society.
