About Rachel Grant:
Rachel is known for her sweeping paintings that depict the natural environment. Clouds over landscapes are a recurring theme in her body of work. Rachel’s painting style is expressionistic, with bold brushstrokes and an emphasis on the artist’s present hand. The finished pieces are borderline abstract, allowing viewers room for personal interpretation. While she primarily paints in oil on canvas, her practice also extends into sculpture, video, sound, and alternative photographic processes. This year, new artwork will be on display at the Hudgens Center for the Art and Learning in her solo exhibition "Above the Horizon: Cloudscape Paintings by Rachel Grant". Her artwork is included in private and corporate collections including Hotels by Hilton and Sotherly hotels.
In addition to her studio work, Rachel enjoys teaching art and spending time outdoors with her husband, two young daughters, and their rambunctious dog, Chewie.
