About Natalya Khorover Aikens:
Natalya’s art is an extension of her commitment to using recycled and repurposed materials, a lifelong advocacy. Her detailed works are nuanced and reimagined images inspired by the lines of the urban environment. A close examination of Natalya’s art reveals delightful and unexpected combinations of materials as diverse as vintage lace, plastic sheeting, and candy wrappers, layered and collaged with machine and hand stitching.
For the last ten years, Natalya has been selected to exhibit in juried art shows throughout the United States, including the Diary Barn’s biennial Quilt National exhibition (2013 and 2017) and the 63rd Annual Art of the Northeast at the Silvermine Art Center in New Canaan, CT. Natalya has also showcased her works in juried art fairs such as The Other Art Fair in Brooklyn, NY and The Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show in Philadelphia, PA. The Visions Art Museum in San Diego included Natalya’s work in the exhibition, Breakout: Quilt Visions 2016.
Natalya earned her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. Following careers in the New York City fashion and film industries, she lives and works in Westchester County, NY. She is a member of Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), Surface Design Association (SDA) and the Katonah Museum Artist Association (KMAA).
