About Kayleen Horsma:
Kayleen Horsma paints using simple strokes that mature into figures through process similar to "chiaroscuro":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiaroscuro. In her study of strong contrasts of light and shadow during recent years, she finds enjoyment in the process of this technique. Inspired by natural tones of watercolor paintings, Horsma uses light as a source to capture the mood of its subject. Her work has evolved towards rich brush work with deep contrasts that result in loose but naturalistic oil paintings.
