About Jonathan Lansey:
As a scientist and mathematician, Jonathan has a unique way of looking at the world. He finds inspiration for his art by looking at the beauty of everyday objects from an atypical perspective. The colorful “Birefringent Plastics” series began when he observed a single glint of light bouncing off a pair of sunglasses, before he crafted and recorded it as art.
Jonathan’s art and designs have been featured internationally in a diverse range of publications and museums, including the Design Museum in Gent, Belgium, “The Art and Science of Spirals” and the journal of the Hungarian Physics Society. Jonathan recently collaborated on a dynamic digital art piece installed at 55 Hudson Yards.
