About John Bucklin:
A fourth generation San Franciscan, John Bucklin graduated from the School of Visual Arts with a B.F.A. in Fine Arts. He also studied drawing at the Academy of Art in Florence, Italy. John has worked as a carpenter, cabinet maker, a surf shop salesperson, and in graphic design. He is proficient in a range of mediums including pencil, watercolor, acrylic, and oil. His paintings and sculptures are found in private collections across the United States. Aside from his dramatic wave seascape paintings, John has discovered a passion for “plein air” painting. Wherever he travels to find inspiration, be it the the Mojave Desert, the Sierras, Northern California, Montana, he captures a realist light and color of his surroundings. John's abstract paintings are yet another manifestation of how he makes sense of the world around him. Those works are all at once profound and playful, technical and abstract, yet always dedicated to expressing a particular beauty.
