About James Ong:
Born in the East, Raised in the West, James Ong was a quiet, curious, and observant child who liked to read and think.
As an ex-engineer, James attended the Academy of Art University (MFA Product Design – Toys). He has created marble toys, construction sets, sculptural blocks, mobiles, and paper sculptures. Art school was an eye-opening and mind expanding experience.
James wants to create beautiful, memorable experiences through his artworks. His meditative paintings encourage viewers to slowdown and contemplate what they are seeing and imagining.
He is drawn towards Eastern thinking and aesthetics, especially Zen Buddhism and Japanese art and design because they free his imagination to wander and play without constraint.
