Hosook Kang is a Korean-born, New York–based abstract painter whose work explores light, rhythm, and transcendence through layered surfaces of oil and acrylic on canvas. Press Accolades
- “There is a suggestion of flight or the release of spirit in her work. Many of her paintings are luminescent with wave-like forms resembling Aurora Borealis (The Northern Lights) … “‘Describing infinitely extended space with a close-up image, the work has an energy that is a delicate relation between dot and dot,’ Kang shares.”— Sundaram Tagore Gallery, for the In-Flight exhibition - January 30, 2009
- “Korean-born painter Hosook Kang detonates a series of delicate explosions in her second solo show, entitled In-flight. With minuscule flecks of paint she creates the sensation of infinite particles gently dissipating.” — Asian Art News - July/August 2009
- “Korean artist Hosook Kang is fascinated with nature, specifically the invisible rush of energy that flows through living things and natural phenomena.” — ArtNews - April 2013
- “Each is in effect a meditative moment in her own consciousness…Their tension makes the inner power of Kang’s meditational abstractions transcendentally clear.” — Donald Kuspit -
- “Although every painting by Kang testifies to the persistence of ‘movement’ and transformational ‘alchemy,’ she is nevertheless an artist for whom beauty remains eternally valid.” — Richard Vine -
