About Emily Jones:
Emily Jones is an oil painter working and studying in Los Angeles, CA.
Emily Jones was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. She graduated with an Associate of Arts and an Associate of Fine Arts from Elgin Community College in Elgin, IL. before moving to Los Angeles with her husband in 2010.
Emily is currently studying painting as a senior at California State University Northridge. She supplements her education by creating original, commissioned paintings while working in her home studio. Her professional work is often humorous and pop culture referential, while her personal work is more contemplative, politically fueled and biographical.
At the end of the 2012 spring semester, her "Anxiety Realized" series was displayed at the Annual Student Art Exhibit. She won a third place prize in the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs's juried "Small Works" show. Her "Origin of Love" series is currently on display at the Gallery Project in Ann Arbor, MI for their "Quantified Self" group show.
