About Austin Chen:
Originally from Michigan, Austin Chen is a Taiwanese-American visual artist living in Washington. His "Take a Daydream" project started from a desire to capture finite moments in his life when the world came to a halt in early 2020. From there it grew into a way to visually document places he's existed and experienced.
His artwork taps into the inner workings of his mind to invoke feelings of childhood wonder, euphoria, and nostalgia. Through the use of unique color palettes and composition, he transforms his own photographs into hyperrealistic dreamscapes that materialize his visualization of the world around him. His unique vision & artistic style reflect his lived experiences in both the United States and Asia and is heavily influenced by mother nature, impressionism, fauvism, music, and existential themes.
