About Antonio Alanis :

Antonio Alanís is a bilingual, multicultural artist, and illustrator based in Durham, North Carolina. His visual work explores themes of cultural identity, belonging, and resilience through vibrant, mural-inspired digital illustrations and community-based art. With a B.A. in Spanish from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Master of Arts in Education from Wake Forest University, Antonio merges his background in education and advocacy to uplift Latinx and BIPOC voices through storytelling and art. He has facilitated art and activism workshops, exhibited across the South, and collaborated with cultural institutions on projects that blend heritage, social justice, and youth engagement. Inspired by his Mexican heritage, family stories, and the power of activism art, Antonio’s creative practice centers around healing, expression, and community connection. His work continues to be shaped by his lived experiences as a first-generation Mexican American and his commitment to creating space for underrepresented narratives.
