About Amy Kustra:
Amy Kustra is an abstract expressionist artist who lived in New York and California, before settling in Maine in 2002, where she currently resides.
In her life and work, Amy strives to replace fear with curiosity and to see mistakes as opportunities. Her work is about healing, hope and courage, the interconnectedness of all life, and above all, an expression of love.
Prior to becoming an artist, Amy received degrees in environmental studies, anthropology and medicine, and worked as a family doctor for 20 years. In 2015 she transitioned from her career in medicine to becoming a full time artist.
Amy has studied with numerous, notable, Maine painters, and has taken courses at Maine College of Art and the New York Academy of Art. Most recently she has been studying abstract expressionism in Santa Fe, NM.
She has had several solo exhibitions, including her most recent: “The Art of Awakening” which features large, abstract, colorful, free and experimental work.
Amy’s work has been exhibited throughout the North East and New York. It is held in private collections throughout the U.S. and internationally.
